Track Surveys
Athletics and Sports Consultants, in addition to planning, design and construction
supervision, specialise in independent track inspections and surveys to confirm
satisfactory completion and line marking contracts.
The UK Athletics Questionnaire will be completed in respect of the dimensional
accuracy of line marking, levels and all necessary gradients. It will be prepared for the
track owners to submit to the governing body for certification. In addition a report on
the track and it's condition will be provided.
The survey will include the following measurements and observation and will require 1
to 1-1/2 days on site.
1) The 400m oval track
Length and width of each lane and verification that all staggered start lines and curved
start line are correctly positioned (400m, 200, 4 x 400m and 800m).
Verification of all relay take over boxes and accelerator lines, plus 1500m and 1 mile
start lines.
Verification of all steeplechase start lines and hurdle positions.
Verification of all 200m and 400m hurdle positions.
Verification of all break lines.
All necessary level observations to confirm gradients.
2) The sprint straight(s)
Verification of all start lines and hurdle positions (110mH, 100m, 80m, 75m and 70m).
All necessary level observations to confirm gradients.
3) Field events
Measurement of all runways, long/triple jump, pole vault and high jump take off areas.
All necessary level observations to confirm runway and takeoff gradients.
Verification of all levels and measurements for: shot, discus and hammer circles and
their landing areas, javelin runways and landing areas.
UK Athletics require 2 No1:250 plans to accompany the questionnaire, normally these
are already available. However in their absence ASC would be happy to prepare such
plans as a optional extra.
Should the survey be required to I.A.A.F standard, this can also be a carried out.
